My practise explores the complexities of the Vietnamese diaspora and the fragile journeys taken to reach a ‘new’ homeland. I use rice as a direct connection to Vietnam’s rich history in rice production and use performance to explore states of flux, transition and temporary mark making. The material here has been dyed red to raise further questions and explore the mediums capabilities in comparison to using traditional paint. I am opening up my practise to new mediums and am experimenting with film to relate my ideas of transcience, diaspora and journeying.
